Camping in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

Went camping with some friends in Shenandoah Valley on a weekend last month. During the day it was in the 60s if I remember correctly. The temperature dropped pretty quickly after sunset. It had to be in the 30s when we went to sleep. However, the coldest moments were early in the morning. I kept waking up every 10 minutes or so because of sleeping in a fairly thin sleeping bag. The next day we went hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Great weekend, great weather, lots of fun!

Imgur Uploader AIR App

Please upgrade your Flash Player This is the content that would be shown if the user does not have Flash Player 6.0.65 or higher installed.

Redditors and Diggers probably already know what Imgur is. But for those who don’t, Imgur is my favorite image hosting/sharing created by Alan Schaaf, a computer science student at Ohio University. Learn more about it in the FAQ section and at Reddit’s /r/IAmA.

With the recent release of a public API, I quickly put together a desktop application, which allows you to quickly drag and drop an image into the app and get back a URL that you can paste in an IM window, email, Reddit, Digg, etc. It also keeps track of upload history while giving the ability to delete your images from Imgur’s servers.

To install, click Install Now on the left. If you are viewing this post from an RSS reader, please open it in a browser to install the application.

The application was developed using Adobe AIR technology, which allows the application to run on Windows, OS X and Linux. I also leveraged the AIR Update framework in this as well. Here is a quick screenshot.

Fall Colors in Shenandoah National Park

Who doesn’t love fall? Here are some photos from Big Meadows at Shenandoah National Park. It’s about an hour drive west of DC. The weekend we went was pretty crowded. I originally planned on visiting Luray Caverns but the line was long…about an hour wait. So we changed the plan and hit up Big Meadows instead. It was our first time there and the first thing that came in mind was that it would make a pretty cool golf course. Anyway it’s pretty much a big open field and what was cool about it was the colors of different kinds of little plants.
